LEGO® Serious Play® Method

With the LEGO® Serious Play® Method, the starting point is the same for all participants; a carefully chosen common question is answered through building with LEGO bricks.

What can the LEGO® Serious Play® Method be used for?

Whether it’s vision finding, retrospectives, innovation, customer or candidate experiences, team building, strategy, change processes, or coaching – LSP is a creative method that can address complex questions in organizations and businesses. Identical number of building blocks, equal creative time, and equal attention within the group. This ensures that everyone at the table is 100% engaged and heard. The careful preparation of the question to be answered, the ideal setting, and the context in which the method should be used are essential. By the way, the LEGO® Serious Play® Method is not the solution but a great tool on the way to it!

With the LEGO® Serious Play® Method, we follow a structured process

With the LEGO® Serious Play® Method, we work with the “brain-hand” principle. So, we don’t just think about a question; we build the answer from our inner world as a model to share with the group afterward. The LEGO® Serious Play® Method follows a defined process and is moderated by one or more external facilitators over several rounds: We build individual models in response to a question, which we then combine into a group model in a second step. In another step, we make external influencing factors such as dependencies, opportunities, and risks visible that affect our model. We capture the models and stories in images during the session and derive follow-up tasks for the team from them at the end.
