A Development Center is a structured training facility for executives or prospective executives who wish to train and increase their own reflective skills and feedback culture in challenging leadership situations. A Development Center consists of different elements through which participants are guided by a facilitator. Each individual element describes challenges from everyday leadership situations and allows participants to observe one another’s behavior, to reflect on their own behavior, and to receive qualitative and structured feedback from the group with respect to their behavioral patterns.
What is the goal of a Development Center?
- Compare & reflect upon one’s self-perception with the perception of others regarding various leadership competencies
- Train and increase one’s own ability to reflect
- Strengthen one’s own feedback competence and ability to learn from each other in challenging situations
The Development Center exposes and stimulates areas where participants can benefit from personal and professional growth & development. Embedded in a company’s internal development program, the Development Center serves to highlight and reinforce targeted areas of development of high potentials as well as the consolidation and further development of individual leadership competencies.
What do you do in a Development Center?
The Development Center follows a structured, tight schedule and includes three different exercises that are worked on, observed and assessed in the group and include: a group discussion, a presentation and an appraisal interview. In each of the three exercises, participants alternate between the roles of supervisor, employee and observer.
Target Group
The Development Center is suitable for people who are about to take on a management function, are new to such a function or already have management experience.
Group Size, Location & Duration
A moderated DC group consists of 4 participants each. The Development Center can be held on a premise at your company, at an external location at the company’s, or via Zoom. A DC follows a precise schedule and lasts 4 hours (morning or afternoon) including coffee break.
